Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Corporate Credit Trader to join our Corporate Credit Trading Desk within Global Markets and play a leading role in the development of our European corporate credit franchise.

This is a senior, risk-taking position with direct responsibility for P&L, portfolio construction and risk across Investment Grade, High Yield and selected structured credit. The successful candidate will combine strong fundamental credit expertise with market technicals, relative-value analysis and disciplined risk management to identify and monetize opportunities across issuers, sectors, curves, capital structures and geographies.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Take ownership of corporate credit risk across the Trading Book, with clear accountability for P&L and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Develop and execute directional, relative-value and hedging strategies across cash bonds, CDS, indices and rates.
  • Manage portfolio risk, liquidity and inventory, including CS01, DV01, VaR, concentration, jump-to-default and stress risk.
  • Contribute to the management and optimization of the Banking Book corporate bond portfolio, working closely with Treasury and ALM.
  • Assess the optimal allocation of credit exposures between Trading and Banking Books, considering liquidity, funding, capital, accounting and return-on-capital.
  • Generate actionable market views and trading ideas while supporting Sales, DCM and primary-market activity.
  • Partner closely with Risk, Treasury, ALM, Finance, Sales and DCM to optimize balance-sheet deployment and the broader credit franchise.
  • Help shape the desk's strategy, enhance trading capabilities and mentor junior traders.
  • Leverage data, technology and AI to improve market intelligence, relative-value screening, portfolio analytics and trading efficiency.

You will be a great candidate if you:

  • 5+ years' relevant experience in corporate credit / bond trading within a bank, investment bank, asset manager or comparable institutional platform.
  • A proven track record in European corporate credit, ideally across both Investment Grade and High Yield.
  • Strong fundamental credit analysis and relative-value expertise, with the ability to translate market and issuer dynamics into actionable trades.
  • Strong knowledge of cash bonds, CDS and credit indices, together with an understanding of rates, funding and liquidity.
  • Proven ability to manage risk and positions through volatile markets, with sound judgment and disciplined risk-taking.
  • Commercial mindset and strong collaboration skills across Sales, DCM, Treasury, ALM, Risk and Finance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex credit views clearly to senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong analytical and digital capabilities, including Bloomberg, Excel and relevant trading/risk systems, with an appetite for emerging data and AI tools.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Excellent English.
  • Learn & self-improve with every opportunity.
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships when interacting with clients and colleagues.
  • Develop new solutions while minimising unnecessary complexity.
  • Earn and maintain the trust of clients and colleagues.
